We represent the English GNSS simulation specialist Spirent Communications plc in German-speaking countries.

The Spirent GNSS simulators are capable of transmitting the actual satellite navigation signals of various GNSS at a particular point in time at a particular location. The simulator comes with software packages that can be used to create realistic scenarios of landscapes or cities where routes can be driven or flown. The navigation device is located in the shielded test laboratory, but receives the signals of the given drive.

The device's response to poor signal reception due to obstacles such as mountains, houses or bridges can also be tested. Also sources of interference that can potentially block, disturb or distort GPS / GNSS receivers, especially on and just off motorways and in cities, can be simulated.

Newly developed navigation devices have to undergo extensive testing. With repeatability under consistent conditions, testing with a satellite signal simulator provides more cost effective and more valid results than pure live testing.

An alternative to simulated tests is the test with an RF signal record and playback system. Here, the signal environment is recorded during a test drive. These data can be repeatedly played back to the navigation receiver under test. So the real signal environment comes to the lab.

The Spirent GSS6450 additionally to up to four RF data inputs can also record up to four video streams and one audio track.
